SaveIran's SNSC Says Hormuz to Stay Closed Until US Meets Demands
In comments published on Saturday, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), said that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States "corrects its behavior." He outlined six conditions that Washington must meet before the strategic waterway can reopen.
The conditions include ending what he called threats against the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, permanently halting military action against Iran and its regional allies, withdrawing US naval and air forces involved in the blockade of Iran, compensating Tehran for damage caused during recent conflicts, lifting US sanctions, and releasing Iran's frozen assets.
Zolghadr stated that these demands reflect the will of the Iranian people, citing nationwide rallies held over the past six days. He emphasized, "The Supreme National Security Council will not retreat from these demands, whether in war or in negotiations."
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, with the Strait of Hormuz being a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. The closure of the strait would have significant implications for international energy markets.
According to Mehr News Agency, Zolghadr's comments were made in the context of ongoing disputes between Tehran and Washington, including disagreements over the nuclear program and regional policies. The United States has not yet officially responded to these specific demands.
