Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday that foreign ministers and heads of state have praised the courage, dignity and power of Iran's armed forces during his meetings abroad. He made the remarks in a videoconference address to a session reviewing the qualifications of the proposed minister of defense in Tehran, according to Mehr News.
Pezeshkian commemorated the memory of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the martyrs of the eight-year Sacred Defense (the Iraqi imposed war against Iran from 1980 to 1988), those killed during the 40-day war imposed by the US against Iran, which he referred to as the Ramadan War, martyred schoolchildren, and former defense minister Major General Aziz Nasirzadeh. He praised the bravery of the country's armed forces.
At the start of his speech, Pezeshkian thanked the armed forces for defending the country against US and Israeli aggression, saying their self-sacrifice and power astonished the world. He stressed the role of Iran's defensive capabilities in countering external threats and referred to his meetings with officials from various nations. "During foreign visits and in meetings with ministers and heads of state from different countries, they admired the power, dignity and stature of our armed forces," he said.
The president said the armed forces' performance in defending the country has had a significant impact across the region. "The defense showcased by the brave armed forces, and the resilience they demonstrated, have left the countries of the region astonished. This defense has been a source of pride for us within the international community, and nations across the globe as well as those in the region," he added.
Pezeshkian also highlighted the role of experts and scientists in the defense industry in improving the country's military power. He noted that the proposed defense minister has a brilliant record in the defense industry. "His effort along with the endeavors of martyred scientists like Fakhrizadeh and Tehrani Moghaddam have made the country's defense power reach a position where foreign powers, despite having extensive facilities and equipment, do not dare to invade Iran easily," he said.
According to Mehr News, the session was held to review the qualifications of the proposed defense minister, whose name was not given in the report. The article did not specify the date of the session beyond saying it was on Sunday.
