A fire that broke out in one of Russia's southern ports has been extinguished, according to local authorities. Rostov region Governor Yury Slyusar announced on Telegram that fires on a tanker and in the port of Taganrog, a city of approximately 240,000 residents, had been put out. He confirmed that no oil spill was reported and that two people sustained injuries. The city's mayor, Svetlana Kambulova, stated that a local state of emergency, initially introduced on May 27, had been extended.
In the neighboring Krasnodar region, authorities in Armavir, a city with a population of 185,000, reported that a fire at an oil depot in the city's industrial zone had been brought under control. No injuries were reported in that incident.
Governor Slyusar also mentioned that nearly 50 drones had been downed in the region, with attacks reported across the province. The Rostov region borders Ukraine's Donbas, an area that has been a focal point of fighting between Russia and Ukraine.
According to Mehr News, the fires and drone activity highlight ongoing tensions in the region. The report by Mehr News added that the situation remains under monitoring by local authorities.
