Explosions Heard in Southern Iranian Cities of Bandar Abbas and Bushehr

On Wednesday evening, several media sources reported that explosions were heard in the cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik in Hormozgan province, southern Iran. The sounds were described as weak and not audible in most parts of the city, making it difficult to determine their exact nature. Some reports suggested the sounds might be related to firing at hostile targets.

According to Mehr News, explosions were also heard from the sea off the western coast of Sirik. The Hormozgan Governor Office stated that there were no clashes or injuries in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, and Sirik cities, and follow-ups are continuing to obtain more information.

Last night, the American army reportedly attacked several points in the southern provinces, including Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, and Sirik, which were met with a decisive response from the Iranian armed forces. Some media outlets, including Axios, cited the American army as saying it had carried out new airstrikes against Iranian targets. Al Jazeera quoted CENTCOM as saying its forces were conducting operations in the Strait of Hormuz to reduce Iran's capabilities to control the strait.

According to Mehr News, the situation remains under investigation, and further details are expected as follow-ups continue.
