Royan Institute sees European patients for infertility treatment

Abdulhossein Shahverdi, head of the Royan Research Institute, stated that the institute has been a destination for international patients seeking infertility treatment. He noted that before regional and operational challenges emerged over the past year to 18 months, Royan accepted more than 500 foreign infertile couples each year. These patients come from across the region as well as from European countries.

Shahverdi attributed the influx of international patients to several factors, including adherence to cultural and religious principles, high clinical success rates, and a strong scientific reputation. He also mentioned that the patient demographic includes overseas Iranians who have married abroad or have foreign spouses.

Affordable treatment costs compared to many Western countries have further fueled fertility tourism in Iran over the past two decades. Despite recent logistical constraints, the institute continues to admit a substantial number of foreign patients, resulting in successful births both within Iran and abroad.

The report by Mehr News Agency (MNA) highlighted these points, emphasizing the ongoing appeal of Iranian medical centers for fertility treatments despite challenges.
