Massive crowds gather at Enghelab Square for Ayatollah Khamenei funeral

TEHRAN, Jul. 06 (MNA) – Tehran's Enghelab Square was packed with mourners before dawn on Monday as the funeral procession for Ayatollah Khamenei prepared to move from Damavand Street, marking the final farewell for the martyred Leader.

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in the square and surrounding streets, many weeping and beating their chests in grief. The atmosphere was somber as the procession made its way through the city, with mourners chanting slogans and carrying portraits of the late leader.

The funeral ceremony is expected to continue throughout the day, with the body of Ayatollah Khamenei to be transported to the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery for burial. Security forces were deployed to manage the massive crowds and ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

According to Mehr News Agency, the turnout reflects the deep love and respect the Iranian people hold for their leader, who passed away after a period of illness. The report added that similar gatherings were taking place in other cities across Iran as the nation mourns the loss of its Supreme Leader.
