Iranian commander says enemy defeated through national unity

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, speaking at a local ceremony on Sunday, said that Iran's enemies have failed to achieve their objectives in the eight-year Iran-Iraq War and in two recent conflicts, which he described as 12-day and 40-day wars imposed by the United States and Israel. He attributed these failures to the unity of the Iranian people.

Sayyari congratulated the nation on the anniversary of the Eight Years of Sacred Defense, the term used in Iran for the 1980-1988 war with Iraq, and paid tribute to the families of martyrs who lost their lives in the conflict. He said that during the war, the Iraqi Ba'ath regime sought to undermine Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity but failed completely. He reiterated that the enemy was defeated through the unity of the Iranian people.

Turning to the present, Sayyari said that today's enemies have not been able to achieve their malicious goals and have been forced to leave the region in failure and humiliation. He also outlined the mission of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that it comprises three key elements: defending the country's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, defending its independence, and preserving the Islamic Establishment.

The remarks were made during a local ceremony, according to Mehr News. The report by Mehr News added that Sayyari's comments came as Iran marks the anniversary of the 1980-1988 war, during which he said the enemy failed to achieve its aims.
