Iran says consultations with Qatari mediators on Strait of Hormuz plan continue

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said consultations with Qatari mediators over the "two-day plan" concerning the Strait of Hormuz are continuing but have not yet produced a definitive conclusion. In remarks carried by Mehr News Agency, he said the outcome depends on the responses the other side provides to Iran's questions.

Araghchi addressed the recent visit of an Iranian delegation to Qatar, explaining that it took place at the level of deputy foreign minister and was intended to continue discussions with the Qatari mediators, who had also been present in Tehran over the past weeks. He clarified that there was no plan during this visit to hold negotiations with the American side. "Consultations regarding the 'two-day plan' are continuing with the mediators; however, a definitive result has not yet been achieved," he said, adding that reaching such a result depends on the answers the other side gives to Iran's questions.

"We are making every effort in this direction, and we hope that the other side possesses the rationality to prioritize diplomacy over other routes," Araghchi said. He also stated that the military power of the Iranian Armed Forces has improved compared with the two recent wars. Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic is prepared for all scenarios, he said the directives issued by the Commander-in-Chief, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, to senior military commanders clearly demonstrated the country's resolve. "Our Armed Forces have a very specific mission, and by leveraging the lessons learned from the two previous wars, they are now significantly stronger than before," he said.

In conclusion, Araghchi said Iran remains prepared for both defense and diplomacy, and that which path the Americans choose depends on their own rationality. The report by Mehr News Agency did not specify further details of the two-day plan or the timeline for the next round of consultations.
