Report estimates Ukraine military spending could reach $473 million per day in 2027

Ukraine's military spending in 2027 would amount to about $473 million per day if the conflict with Russia continues, according to calculations by the Russian state news agency TASS based on reports from the Ukrainian Finance Ministry. Total military spending for the year would come to nearly $173 billion under that scenario.

The daily figure covers only military expenditures, defined as costs related to payments to active-duty service members and the procurement of military equipment, ammunition and gear. It does not include social spending to support former servicemen and the families of those killed in action, the construction of fortifications where these are not carried out by the Defense Ministry, or other government expenditures.

For comparison, Ukraine's military spending in 2026 averaged about $300 million per day, according to the same calculation, excluding additional requests made by the Defense Ministry at the end of the year. When those requests are included, the daily average rises to $370 million.

The figures indicate a substantial projected increase in military outlays between 2026 and 2027. The estimates are based on Ukrainian Finance Ministry reporting and were compiled by TASS; they represent a projection rather than a confirmed budget outcome and depend on the assumption that the conflict continues.

According to Mehr News, which cited the TASS calculations, the 2027 estimate of nearly $173 billion covers military expenditures alone and excludes social support payments, some fortification construction and other government spending.
