Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday called for maintaining the momentum of negotiations between Iran and the United States and working towards an early comprehensive agreement. According to the official Xinhua news agency, Wang made the remarks during a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Beijing.
Wang Yi stated that the priority regarding the U.S.-Iran situation is to safeguard and implement the memorandum of understanding, maintain the momentum of negotiations, and strive for a comprehensive agreement that is agreed upon by both the United States and Iran, accepted by regional countries, and welcomed by the international community.
The Chinese foreign minister also noted that the current ceasefire remains fragile, but emphasized that "talking is better than fighting, and dialogue is better than confrontation." His comments come amid ongoing indirect talks between Iran and the United States, with China playing a supportive role in the diplomatic process.
According to the report by Mehr News Agency, Wang Yi's meeting with the Saudi foreign minister also covered bilateral relations and regional issues. The Chinese diplomat's call for sustained dialogue reflects Beijing's consistent position favoring diplomatic solutions to international disputes.
