TEHRAN, Jun. 04 (MNA) – People from across Iran have gathered at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in the south of the capital Tehran to mark the 37th anniversary since his passing on Thursday.
The ceremony, held annually, draws large crowds who pay tribute to the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Participants included various segments of society, from families to officials, who came to express their reverence and renew their commitment to his ideals.
Imam Khomeini, who led the 1979 Islamic Revolution, passed away on June 3, 1989. His mausoleum, located in the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery complex, has become a site of pilgrimage for many Iranians and international visitors.
According to Mehr News Agency, the event featured speeches, Quran recitations, and cultural programs. Security and logistical arrangements were made to accommodate the large number of attendees.
