Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has dismissed the U.S.-led security dialogue in Bahrain as "political theater," accusing the United States of showing "complete contempt for genuine peace and security" in the region.
Reacting to a statement by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Kanaani urged regional countries to remain vigilant and draw lessons from what he described as recent U.S. and Israeli military attacks and actions that undermined regional peace and security.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions in the Persian Gulf region, where the United States has been seeking to build a maritime coalition and enhance security cooperation with Gulf Arab states. Iran has consistently opposed foreign military presence in the region, calling for regional security arrangements without outside interference.
According to Mehr News Agency, Kanaani's comments were made in response to CENTCOM's statement regarding the Bahrain dialogue, which the U.S. military command had touted as a step toward enhancing regional stability. The Iranian spokesman, however, argued that such initiatives are merely a cover for U.S. and Israeli destabilizing activities.
The report by Mehr News Agency added that Kanaani emphasized the need for regional countries to rely on their own capabilities and cooperate with each other to ensure security, rather than depending on external powers.
