An Iranian army general stated on Tuesday that a US attack on Iran has undermined the global image of US power. Speaking at a local ceremony in Tehran, General Sheikh, the Executive Deputy of the Army, said the attack inflicted $47 billion in direct losses on the US Department of War, referring to the Pentagon. He emphasized that modern warfare is not confined to the military domain, noting that the economy, culture, geography, and other sectors are all involved in conflict, with every member of society feeling its consequences. He added that the Armed Forces remain on the frontlines of national defense and will make their utmost efforts to defend the country's national sovereignty and territorial integrity with all might.
General Sheikh also pointed to the spread and expansion of US military presence worldwide, noting that the United States possesses hundreds of military bases and tens of thousands of troops deployed in different countries. He said that world public opinion has concluded that the presence of US bases and troops in various countries could not bring about peace and security for the region and the world in particular. He referred to the aftermath of a 40-day war imposed by the US and Israel jointly against Iran, stressing that the US's greatest military defeat is not defined merely by the scale of casualties or material losses; rather, it lies in the collapse of the image of power that the US had spent years building through extensive propaganda and military expenditure.
The general explained that the United States' objective in entering the war was to restore its image as a superpower and demonstrate its capacity to impose its will through military might. However, he said, the recent developments on the battlefield posed a serious challenge to this perception, revealing that US military superiority does not necessarily mean the achievement of political and strategic goals. Pointing to the impact of these developments on the calculations of global powers, General Sheikh stated that America's rivals are now facing new variables in their assessment of the country's military capabilities. He added that US military superiority is no longer an absolute, cost-free advantage.
According to Mehr News, the remarks were made during a ceremony in Tehran on Tuesday, where the general highlighted the broader implications of the conflict and the shifting perceptions of US power.
