Armed groups launched a drone attack on checkpoints operated by elements affiliated with the al-Jolani administration in the western countryside of As-Suwayda province in southern Syria, according to a report by Mehr News. The attackers used several bomb-laden drones to target the positions.
The Syrian Interior Ministry, which is affiliated with the al-Jolani administration, announced a couple of days earlier that at least four of its members were killed during an armed attack on the outskirts of Hama province. The report, citing Al-Akhbariyah media network, noted that internal conflicts in Syria have continued since the overthrow of former President Bashar al-Assad.
These clashes are taking place against the backdrop of what the report described as continued aggression by the Zionist regime against the Arab country. Syrian media reported that the Israeli army is moving heavy military equipment to the Druze Heights in As-Suwayda and intends to establish a new base in the area.
According to Mehr News, the situation in southern Syria remains volatile, with armed groups targeting checkpoints linked to the al-Jolani administration while Israeli military movements in the region add to the complexity of the security landscape.
