Iran's First Vice President Mohammadreza Aref emphasized the importance of enhancing cybersecurity during a meeting of the Science and Technology Development Headquarters on Monday. He recalled that the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei consistently stressed the need for scientific and technological development in the country.
Aref stated that the development of new technologies in both public and private sectors has been prioritized over the past two years, aiming to realize the Vision Document and achieve the top spot in the region as well as an appropriate international position in science and technology.
He noted that the enemy's hostility toward the nation has not ceased even after reaching a memorandum of understanding (MoU). "Along with diplomatic efforts, the path of progress in science and technology must be pursued seriously to enhance defense capabilities," Aref said.
Reiterating the need for complete immunity in cybersecurity, he stressed: "Serious measures must be taken in this area. Iran's position in cybersecurity is defensive, but there must also be readiness to attack the enemy."
According to Mehr News, the remarks come amid ongoing tensions with Israel and other adversaries, highlighting Iran's focus on bolstering its cyber defenses.
