Araghchi warns EU and NATO over enabling US and Israeli actions

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has warned the European Union and NATO over what he described as their facilitation of US and Israeli actions, according to a post he published on X.

Araghchi said he raised the issue during a meeting the previous night with Kaja Kallas, the European Union's foreign policy chief, as well as with other EU counterparts. According to his account, he explicitly highlighted what he called the severe long-term consequences of supporting and enabling alleged Israeli and US war crimes.

The Iranian foreign minister also addressed remarks by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte concerning "Operation Epic Fury." According to Araghchi, Rutte noted that Europe served as a critical power-projection platform, hosting 5,000 US flights since February 28. Araghchi criticized the alliance's stance in response, saying that NATO leadership should understand that groveling never satisfies a bully.

The statements mark the latest public exchange between Tehran and Western officials over the conflict involving the United States and Israel. Araghchi's comments came a day after his meeting with Kallas, whose office handles EU foreign policy coordination. The Iranian side has repeatedly voiced opposition to what it characterizes as Western logistical and political support for US and Israeli military operations.

NATO's role as a basing and transit platform for US military flights has been a point of contention, with the alliance's secretary general publicly citing the scale of American air traffic through Europe. Araghchi's response focused on the political implications of that arrangement rather than its operational details.
