Iran FM Araghchi thanks D-8 for stance against US-Israeli aggression

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with Sohail Mahmood, Secretary General of the D-8 (Developing Eight Islamic Countries), on Friday evening in Tehran. Mahmood had traveled to the Iranian capital to attend farewell ceremonies honoring the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

During the meeting, Mahmood offered condolences for the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei and a group of Iranian officials and citizens during what he described as the imposed American-Zionist war. He expressed sympathy and solidarity with the government and people of Iran. Mahmood also briefed Araghchi on the programs of the D-8 Secretariat and upcoming meetings of the organization, calling for continued active participation by the Islamic Republic of Iran in future events.

Araghchi appreciated Mahmood's participation in the ceremony and thanked the Islamic member countries of the D-8 for their valuable positions condemning the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime, as well as their declared support and solidarity with Iran. He highlighted the important and effective role of regional organizations in confronting US belligerent unilateralism and emphasized Iran's commitment to continued cooperation and active participation in future D-8 meetings.

According to Mehr News, the meeting underscored the D-8's solidarity with Iran amid ongoing tensions with the US and Israel.
