Iran FM dismisses US 'most crushing' economic operation claim

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Saturday responded to Washington's claim of launching the most crushing economic operation in history, asserting that the repeated US strategy is doomed to failure.

In a post on his X account, Araghchi wrote: "14 years ago: Most crippling sanctions in history. Failed." "8 years ago: Maximum pressure. Failed." "5 months ago: Unconditional surrender. Failed." "Today: Most crushing economic operation ever. Bound to fail."

He concluded: "We have seen this movie before. Same bull. Different bullies."

Araghchi's remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, with Washington having imposed multiple rounds of sanctions on Tehran over the years. The US has also threatened further economic measures as part of its pressure campaign against Iran.

According to Mehr News Agency, the Iranian foreign minister's comments reflect Tehran's defiance in the face of US economic pressure, as Iran continues to resist American demands. The report added that Araghchi's statement is part of a broader pattern of Iranian officials dismissing US threats as ineffective.
