Araghchi meets Pakistani interior minister in Tehran

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Wednesday, as part of Islamabad's ongoing mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. The Pakistani interior minister arrived in Iran earlier in the day, landing in the northeastern city of Mashhad before proceeding to Tehran for scheduled meetings with senior Iranian officials.

Naqvi was officially welcomed by Governor of Khorasan Razavi province Gholamhossein Mozaffari at Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport of Mashhad. This marks his several visits to Tehran in recent weeks to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the US.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei confirmed that Naqvi's trip is a direct continuation of Pakistan's mediation and diplomatic initiatives regarding the Iran-US dialogue. During his official visit, Naqvi is scheduled to hold separate meetings with his Iranian counterpart, Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, as well as Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

On Wednesday, the presidents of Iran and the United States formally signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), according to reports. The meeting between Araghchi and Naqvi focused on bilateral relations and the progress of the Iran-US talks. According to Mehr News, the discussions underscored Pakistan's role as a mediator in the negotiations.
