Iranian FM Questions Jordanian Remarks on US Aggression

In a post published on social media platform X, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi raised sharp questions regarding the timeline and conditions for regional response to recent US strikes on Iran. He asked: “How long does the Jordanian Foreign Minister believe Iran should wait before responding to an aggressor that respects neither Arab sovereignty nor Iranian sovereignty?”

Araghchi pointed to regional dynamics and military actions, adding: “Is he truly unaware that Arab airspace, territory, and waters were utilized in the initial American strikes—attacks that resulted in the deaths of innocent Iranians?”

The top Iranian diplomat was responding to recent remarks made by Jordan’s Foreign Minister, highlighted in an Al Jazeera breaking news report. The Jordanian FM had claimed that Iran attacked Jordan and regional nations shortly after hostilities broke out, asserting that Iran’s actions constituted an initial assault rather than a delayed response.

According to Mehr News Agency (MNA), Araghchi’s comments underscore Tehran’s position that its military actions were a response to prior US aggression, which allegedly used Arab territories for launching attacks against Iran. The exchange reflects heightened tensions in the region following US strikes that reportedly killed Iranian citizens.

The report by Mehr News Agency added that Araghchi’s remarks aim to counter narratives that portray Iran as the aggressor, emphasizing that Iran’s response was proportionate and justified under international law.
