Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has warned that any hostile act against Iran will be met with an immediate and decisive response. The statement came in reaction to remarks by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and following Iranian retaliatory strikes on US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Araghchi wrote: "Our Armed Forces are conducting self-defense strikes on sites the U.S. is permitted to use to attack civilian shipping and violate the ceasefire." He added: "Any hostile act will be met with an immediate, decisive response. What sanctions and war failed to achieve won't be won with more war."
The Iranian strikes were carried out earlier on Wednesday after a US aggression on a military station in southern Iran. According to released satellite images, one of the drone/aircraft hangars at the US Ali al-Salem Base in Kuwait was destroyed as a result of Iran's missile attacks.
The developments mark a significant escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, with Iran asserting its right to self-defense under international law. The Iranian Foreign Minister's remarks underscore Tehran's stance that it will not tolerate any hostile actions and will respond forcefully to any aggression.
According to Mehr News, the Iranian retaliatory strikes targeted sites that the US is permitted to use to attack civilian shipping and violate the ceasefire, as stated by Araghchi. The report added that the situation remains volatile, with both sides exchanging warnings and military actions.
