Iran Warns of Continued Strait of Hormuz Blockage Amid US Aggression

In recent days, events have unfolded indicating that the United States is not adhering to its commitments and has adopted a war posture, according to a report by Mehr News. The Islamic Republic of Iran has responded to American attacks on its southern regions with countermeasures both within and beyond the region, targeting countries that were the source of the aggression. Iran has also warned that if the US continues to expand its aggression, the infrastructure of the Zionist regime (Israel) will not remain safe.

The United States is attempting to portray a peaceful image while simultaneously increasing aggression against Iran, a situation Tehran finds unacceptable. Mediation efforts are ongoing: a Qatari delegation met with Iran's Foreign Minister in Mashhad, and Pakistani officials have held phone calls with senior Iranian officials. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi visited Oman to coordinate on the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that only Iran and Oman have the right to manage the strait, and the US has no authority to interfere.

Iran has introduced safe routes for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz and requires vessels to use these routes. The US is seeking to undermine Iran's legitimate approach and prevent it from exercising sovereignty over its territorial waters, but has not succeeded. According to Article 5 of the memorandum of understanding signed between the presidents of Iran and the US, Iran and Oman are responsible for managing the strait and providing maritime services. While Iran is fulfilling its commitments, the US has violated the ceasefire by attacking southern Iran.

Iran expects regional countries, especially Qatar as an intermediary, to urge shipping companies to comply with the memorandum and ask the US to adhere to its provisions. Some commercial vessels have been using uncoordinated transit routes and manipulating GPS or AIS systems, risking collisions, environmental problems, and unsafe routes. This disrupts Iran's efforts to facilitate safe transit through the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz was open and ships passed normally before the US aggression on Iran on March 21, 1404 (2025), which began the Forty-Day War. The US aggression caused insecurity and blockage of the waterway. Iran states that until the US, as the source of insecurity, is completely eliminated, the blockage must continue. After that, ships can resume passage. Iran's decision is based on strong logic and deterrence in response to Washington's attacks and pressures.

The Iranian armed forces, supporting the nation's demands, will vigorously defend national interests and will not allow normal traffic in the strait under US military and media pressure. Iran has a decisive approach in both military and political arenas: it will respond decisively to potential US attacks militarily, and politically it will insist on its positions without compromise, implementing the provisions of the memorandum.

The report also notes that the Zionist regime, which does not consider regional security in its interest, is providing false information to the US to maintain a state of war. Netanyahu, lacking achievements for upcoming elections, is trying to perpetuate the war situation in the Persian Gulf by provoking and deceiving President Trump. Future developments will show whether Trump will be deceived again or will consider America's national interest. According to Mehr News, these events highlight the ongoing tensions in the region.
