Child killed, three wounded in stabbing in Sydney suburb

A child was killed and three other people were wounded in a stabbing in the small town of Valley Heights, about 60 kilometers west of central Sydney, Australia, on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

In a statement, police said emergency services were called around 12:45 p.m. local time to reports of three children and a woman suffering from stab wounds in a vehicle. Members of the public administered first aid before ambulance paramedics arrived, but one of the children died at the scene. The other two children and the woman were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police said all three children are believed to be under five years of age, and the woman is in her 40s. A crime scene has been established, and police said they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
