A shooting at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, left nine people dead, including a child, according to police. Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah said the 45-year-old gunman was related to seven of the victims in the previous day's shooting, while the eighth victim was a friend of a pregnant woman.

Investigators recovered video and audio evidence that included muffled gunshot sounds coming from inside the home just before two distressed women arrived and began pounding on the door shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, Lorah said. The gunman then came out and shot them as they ran toward him, before returning inside, according to the Associated Press.

Police arrived to find the two women dead outside. After deploying a drone and a robot, officers entered the home and found the bodies of a 5-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl on the first floor; two more women and two young men in a stairwell; and the shooter on the second floor.

The identities of the victims have not been released. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet commented on a possible motive. The incident is among the deadliest shootings in the state in recent years.

According to Mehr News, the shooting took place on Friday afternoon and involved multiple victims across two floors of the residence.
