The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy issued a statement on Saturday confirming that 20 vessels have transited the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with the force and after consultation with Iranian maritime authorities. The statement noted that while the number of authorized ships is higher, a specific daily quota is enforced to manage traffic.
According to the IRGC Navy, their actions have guaranteed the security of ships navigating the strait along the route designated by Iran. The passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz has accelerated, but this does not signify a return to pre-war conditions. The statement emphasized that military vessels and ships affiliated with warmongering countries are not permitted to pass.
Any vessel entering the area under Iranian control without prior permission will be prevented from doing so, the IRGC Navy added. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for global oil shipments, and Iran has historically asserted its authority over the passage through its territorial waters.
According to Mehr News Agency (MNA), the IRGC Navy's statement underscores Iran's continued vigilance in maintaining security and control over the strategic strait.
