Iran connects first domestically developed 2 MW wind turbine to national grid

Iran's Minister of Energy, Abbas Aliabadi, announced that the country's first domestically developed 2-megawatt (MW) wind turbine was successfully synchronized with the national grid on September 29. The synchronization followed the completion of mechanical installation and the resolution of technical challenges, according to the minister.

Aliabadi emphasized that the achievement is not the result of reverse engineering. He stated that the turbine's technical know-how has been developed entirely by Iranian researchers and brought to the production stage based on the country's climatic conditions. This indicates a fully indigenous design and manufacturing process tailored to local environmental factors.

The minister added that final measures are currently underway to stabilize the turbine's performance. He expressed hope that it would operate at its full rated capacity in the coming days, contributing to the country's electricity generation portfolio. The turbine's integration into the national grid marks a step in Iran's efforts to expand renewable energy sources.

Aliabadi described the achievement as more than the completion of a single project. He characterized it as a foundation for Iran to design and manufacture wind turbines with higher capacities and greater power output in the future.
