Rosatom personnel at Bushehr plant reach 135 as Russia expands nuclear cooperation

The number of Rosatom employees at Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant has reached 135, according to Alexei Likhachev, the head of the Russian state nuclear corporation. Likhachev said nine additional Rosatom employees arrived at the site a day earlier to carry out scheduled maintenance at Unit 1, which is currently operational. With their arrival, the total number of Russian technical and engineering personnel at the facility reached 135.

Likhachev said all of the personnel are involved in activities related to the plant's three units, including the two units under construction and the one operational reactor unit. He added that Rosatom is continuing to increase its personnel at the Bushehr plant as part of its commitments. On September 22, Likhachev had said that 63 Russian specialists were present at the Bushehr nuclear power plant, indicating that the number of Rosatom personnel at the facility has since more than doubled.

The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, jointly built by Iran and Russia, generates 1,024 megawatts of nuclear power for Iran. Nuclear cooperation between Tehran and Moscow has entered a new phase with the construction of additional reactor units.

According to Russia's TASS news agency, Likhachev made the remarks about the personnel increase. The report by Mehr News added that the expansion of Rosatom's presence at Bushehr is part of the ongoing nuclear cooperation between the two countries.
